Nudity for a Cause

Riding bikes is a fun, relaxing activity. What makes any activity better? Nudity. Skinny-dipping, fencing, or being Blake Lively, you name it: everything is better naked. If you try, however, to combine cycling with your love of nudity when alone, it could end poorly. Fret not my mobile nudist friends, the World Naked Bike Ride is here to solve all your problems.
The mission of this “bare as you dare” journey is to rally against the “indecent exposure [well-played] of people and the planet to cars and the pollution they create.” It is a celebration of cycling culture, sustainability, freedom of expression and many other more important issues than just how awesome it is to ride bikes naked. It is a world-wide movement that expanded to LA for the first time in 2010, with 73 other cities participating in places as far as Paraguay, Latvia and Eugene, OR.
I personally participated in this ride last year, spurred on by IntrepidLA’s resident Man-About-Town Haynes Holiday, and it was the best way to be introduced to the east side of Los Angeles that I could imagine. Coasting through the sun-drenched streets and hollering as we passed through tunnels, I couldn’t help but be overjoyed by the naked camaraderie. See for yourself (NSFW).
The route is only about 10-13 miles, and everyone rides at a slow pace (by notable LA sites!) so no one gets left behind. The starting point, where there will be a pre-party, is under wraps and will be revealed the day before the ride.
