Places To Have Sexytime In Public: Police Academy Gardens

This week, in awesome places to get it on/possibly get arrested, may I submit for your consideration the Police Academy Rock Gardens: a sanctuary of greenery, waterfalls, winding paths and ascending stone grottos. The garden is open to the public, thanks to the largesse of the LAPD (haha, fools!), but you'll most likely have the place to yourself -- particularly if you go in the early evening, when the chirping of crickets drowns out the traffic of the 110.

The gardens themselves are an absolute treasure -- overgrown and tropical in a "Raiders Of The Lost Ark" kind of way, with trails that traverse up a canopied slope and out onto a peak overlooking the backside of Dodger Stadium and the palm trees of Elysian Park. And in case you wonder if you're the first person ever to do anything... untoward... up here, take comfort in knowing you'll most likely find the remains of joints scattered around and some 40-oz beer bottles tucked under a bench. (Which either means that civilians in this neighborhood like to party behind the police academy, or LA's finest-in-training really needed to blow off some steam.) Either way, this little semi-private jungle above the city is well worth exploring. Cue "The Lion Sleeps Tonight."
