We Run These Streets

Ciclavia -- no, it's not something you contracted while visiting the Patpong district in Bangkok. It's a once-a-year event where massive swaths of LA streets are closed off to cars, turning the roadways into pedestrian/bike/skate-friendly paradises. The route starts on Heliotrope in East Hollywood and stretches all the way to downtown and beyond, in what can only be called Revenge Of The Non-Motorized Vehicles. The roads are ours! All ours! ANARCHY! MUHAHAHAHAHA!
I dunno about you guys, but getting to roll through the city on a bike without worrying about being nailed by an SUV, or a slamming into an opening car door, or getting harassed by a convertible full of obnoxious rich kids when you're just trying to chase down your younger brother on some little girl's tricycle you've just stolen... that all sounds immensely appealing. See you fools out there.
